![]() ![]() Very fun to use the city states against AI and players. Also, because the states are on your side, it only bolsters your odds of winning a diplomatic victory. Some times their armies get decimated right at their own bases. Even better, if you bolster the states with gold, and unit gifting (preferably closer to enemy civs) if you get attacked, all the city states will go to war with the AI. It will eventually get to the point that you control congress and can bully the military civs. If you go patronage, and get a strong economy going, you can pretty much do quests/buy off every city state. Wars in Civ, just like in real life are not productive unless you win. ![]() Once you get to the point where you have 3+ cities, with your happiness in check, the CPU becomes more manageable.īut yes, starting wars against the AI on a higher difficulty is hard early on, due to their advantages, and if you don't win, or the war gets drawn out, you will get lapped in score. ![]() The AI gets the happiness advantage, so because of this, you need to get your happiness and gold in line as soon as possible. I find myself when playing King difficulty and above, you will spend the first 50-100 turns playing catchup in terms of score. ![]()
